Some of Nova Scotia's brightest innovators in CED were celebrated at the first-ever provincial Community Economic Development Awards and Showcase in November 1998.

The day-long event brought together CED practitioners, community leaders and government representatives for an awards ceremony and trade-show style showcase of CED organizations and projects.

Fifteen finalists were selected from a slate of 120 nominations. The nominees reflected a wide range of CED activities and organizations, from small individual projects to major initiatives involving entire communities. The awards ceremony also paid tribute to several individuals for their outstanding achievement in the field of CED.
